FREDERICKSBURG, PA, December 8, 2010—FreeBird, a leader in antibiotic-free chicken will be even greener in 2011, as they convert to vacuum-sealed “eco-friendly trayless” packaging for the New Year.
“Our new eco-friendly packaging is designed to be both better for our customers and our environment,” said Barb Quijano, Vice President of Marketing. The new eco-friendly packages are vacuum-sealed, which maximizes freshness and is leak proof. In addition the packages are easier to freeze. The vacuum packages also retain their presentation and take less room in the case, while reducing transit costs and landfill space.
In its ongoing commitment to being as green as possible, FreeBird is also transitioning its “ready-to-eat” frozen line to 100% recycled paperboard in early 2011. “As a company that is dedicated to sustainability, we are always looking for ways to do better,” said Quijano.
