Farmer Rockstar #FB023

J. Brosius

Mr. Brosius and his two brothers currently run the family farm that dates back over three generations. The farm is located in the rolling hills of the Pitman Valley in western Schuylkill County. The family started raising meat birds in 1970 with their first house of all male roasters. The farm now consists of six poultry houses in which all are used to raise broilers. In addition to the poultry, they feed out over 100 head of steers a year and crop farm 400 acres of land. The grain is sold local to a neighboring farmer while the produce is transported and sold through local wholesale markets. A variety of produce is grown but the three major crops are pumpkins, tomatoes, and peppers.
